Law Enforcement Seminar - C.O.P.S.S

I must tell you that I HAVE THE GREATEST RESPECT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. But I would like to ask you three questions. First, are citizen complaints an issue that you would prefer to see minimized in your department? Second, does each of your officers represent you and your department in the professional manner that you expect them to each and every day? Third, how are your officers and your department perceived by the citizens of your community? As we all know, many times it isn’t what you do, but how you are perceived in what you do.

I’m sure that the men and women of your department are extremely professional, but citizen complaints can occur. Therefore, I have created C.O.P.S.S. training, which stands for Communicating On Patrol Skills Seminar
©2009 The Renner Group, Inc. This seminar was developed by utilizing information and feedback from numerous Law Enforcement Officers, both current and retired.

As you know, it can take years to build a relationship with the citizens of your community, but only a few seconds or minutes to destroy that same hard earned relationship. Remember, the public expects your Officers to be sharp, focused, polite, concerned, knowledgeable, objective and professional regardless of the nature of the call that they had just cleared. This seminar is about helping your Officers re-focus. Numerous topics are discussed which I have listed below, including, but not limited to:

  • How the world we live in has changed.
  • How multiple customs, cultures, and languages affect our job.
  • How to better communicate with everyone that they come in contact with.
  • How perception can become reality in someone’s mind.
  • How social media, such as, YouTube and Twitter, have increased the public’s awareness.
  • How to develop good listening habits.
  • If possible, to make each interaction they have with the public an opportunity to educate them.
  • Command respect – don’t demand it.
  • Be Professional: your family, your department, and your community depends on YOU.

These are but only a few of the topics that we discuss in this exciting and energizing three hour training seminar. I have over 34 years of professional experience and expertise in communicating with the public through sales, sales management, training, facilitating, having served on numerous civic committees, civic boards and a partnership in two corporations. I feel uniquely qualified to teach this seminar when I combine my approximate eleven years of experience in Law Enforcement through my county’s Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division. I started working in visitation, then worked to become Road qualified and have served as our Reserve Division’s Training Coordinator, Detail Coordinator, Field Training Officer and have recently retired as our Deputy Commander. Having worked the road for many years I have seen firsthand the demands that are placed on Law Enforcement Officers when dealing with the public. I have taken those years of direct experience to develop honest, focused and energized seminars for my clients. I have traveled throughout the United States providing services for a client range from small businesses up to a sister company of a Forbes Global 2000 Top 10 International Corporation.

I hope you will agree that there is a need for this training and you will allow me the opportunity to discuss this seminar in greater detail with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have by phone 812.374.8328 or by email - grenner@rennertraining.com.
